Interpreting: Interpreting is the transmission of an oral message from one language to another. The interpreter translates the speech immediately from one language to another, maintaining the meaning of the original message.
Conference interpreting for all types of events —from small bilateral meetings to conferences with several languages and a large number of participants— in all its modalities:
- Simultaneous
The interpreter translates the speech simultaneously and the audience hears it through receivers.
Recommended for: Congresses, conferences or all types of events with various languages or a large audience.
Requires: Technical equipment such as booths, consoles, headphones, microphones and receivers.
- Simultaneous with portable equipment
The interpreter translates simultaneously but uses portable equipment.
Recommended for: Meetings with few listeners or in situations which require mobility (visits, presentations, courses, etc.).
Requires: Only receivers and a microphone, with no need for booths or any other equipment.
- Remote simultaneous interpreting
Simultaneous interpreting where the interpreters, the speakers and the audience can be in different places.
Recommended for: The same cases as simultaneous (congresses, conferences, courses, etc.)
Requires: To have a hub or a reliable platform, good internet connections, quality headphones and microphones, etc.
- Consecutive
The interpreter takes notes while the speaker talks and then reproduces the speech every few minutes.
Recommended for: Short meetings with few speakers or a single language, such as press conferences, interviews, presentations or official and ceremonial events.
Requires: No technical equipment, except a public address system in some cases.
- Whispered (chuchotage)
The interpreter whispers the translation simultaneously into the listener’s ear.
Recommended for: Situations with only one or two listeners, such as business lunches, meetings, etc.
Requires: No technical equipment.
- Liaison or bilateral
The interpreter translates brief interventions by speakers, switching from one language to the other.
Recommended for: Small meetings such as negotiations, visits, business trips, etc.
Requires: No technical equipment.
